The Technology Education program here at Richfield Elementary School officially was started in the 2008/2009 school year, and has changed, evolved, and improved over that entire time span. In 2016, our Tech Ed classroom was drastically overhauled, turning it into two neighboring classrooms, and outfitted with amazing tools, cabinets and equipment. While not all tools will be able to be used throughout the entire year, this is still one very impressive improvement at Richfield School. Please stop by to take a look when you get a chance.
Tech Ed 1 and Tech Ed 2 courses are designed to test students' ability to work in teams, follow rules and directions, and use innovative ideas to solve problems.
A major focus of these courses is to have students learn the 'Engineering Design Process,' and various safety topics.
Middle school students will spend about 60 days working on various projects. Some topics include paper towers, building racecars, How it Works research, Rube Goldberg and simple machines, wind power and the Engineering Design Process.

See Mr. A if you need to take this course without taking TE 1 first. Some topics include, the Engineering Design Process, computer-generated bridges, wooden bridges, measurement, building prototypes, the iterative process, hearing safety, testing and collecting data, negative impacts of technology, and flight and airplanes.
Sound Research PowerPoint Template - Open this file and save it to your flashpen or H drive under a different file name. Then delete all the slides EXCEPT the ones your group made. When you are done, save it to your flashpen, and to My Big Campus. Mr A will then put all 5 group's slides together.

Drafting, Design and Visual Communication 2017 will be the 3rd year of this Tech Ed class. In this class, students will explore aspects of the Engineering Design Process through various modeling activities including drafting, computer-aided design and drawing, and aspects of 3D modeling. Students may also complete activities that explore aspects of 3D prototyping, product development and advertising.
