Lauren Davy

Hello and Welcome!

This is my second year teaching at Richfield and I am very thrilled to be apart of this remarkable district.  I am teaching Sixth and Seventh Grade English as well as Seventh Grade Reading.

I graduated in May 2015 from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Science in Education with an Elementary Education major.  I also have minors in German and Special Education.  On the weekends, I provide respite care for a man with Autism. Because of my experiences I will be going back to college in a few years for my master’s degree in Special Education.

During this past summer I taught within the Hartland-Lakeside School District as a summer school teacher.  I worked with Kindergarteners through Eighth Graders, and I enjoyed interacting with all of the differing age levels.  While student teaching at Whitewater Middle School, I worked with the Eighth Graders teaching English.  I am very excited to be back with middle schoolers!

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, baking, walking my dog, and reading books. My mom is an avid gardener and my family and I always get together and help her can various goodies. We make salsa, spaghetti sauce, tomato juice, and barbecue sauce, just to name a few!

Curriculum:

This is the second year implementing Writer’s Workshop and the first year implementing Reader’s Workshop.  As a school, we saw tremendous growth in student writing last year, and we will see significant gains in reading.

Assignments and Due Dates:

I write daily assignments and due dates on the whiteboard for students to copy down in their assignment notebook. In addition, students have a Google Sheet shared with them in their Google Drive that lists assignments and due dates. It is each student’s responsibility to write down assignments, due dates, and check the Google Sheet.

Skyward:

Skyward is used to update students and families on graded assignments. I expect students and families to check Skyward weekly. I try to enter new graded assignments once a week.  However, some assignments such as published pieces and projects take longer to grade. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

Contact Information:

I believe teacher, student and family communication is vital for student success. Families receive information in English/Reading through email.  Skyward is also a form of communication I use, so it is essential to check it frequently.

I am delighted to work with everybody and to make your student’s experience at Richfield successful. If you have any questions or concerns,  please contact me via email or phone from 7:30am to 4pm.

Looking forward to a great year!
